Tunisia: About 70,000 people lost their jobs due to pandemic

According to data released Sunday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), 69.3 thousand people have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The new data indicates that 29 miles of these individuals would not have returned to work despite the return to work of their employers. The indicators show that the estimated number of unemployed in the 3rd quarter 2020 is 676.6 thousand of the total labour force, compared to 746.4 thousand unemployed in the 2nd quarter 2020.

As a result, the unemployment rate fell to 16.2% in the third quarter 2020 compared to 18% in the second quarter.
