The Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), Hfaidh Hfaidh, said that negotiations on wage increases, scheduled for April 2020, have been postponed to next year. This postponement was decided in light of the country’s economic situation caused by the Covid-19 crisis.
During a radio interview, the union official explained that the UGTT will interact with the evolution of the economic and financial situation of the country before starting new negotiations and assured that the increase of the wage bill in the state budget is mainly caused by the recession of the national economy.
