Libya: EU called to suspend aid for migrant rights violations

Senior Libyan researcher at Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa division, Hanan Salah, called on the European Union to suspend aid to the Guard-Generaluntil the authorities of the country prove that they respect the rights of migrants.

In this context, the researcher stated that during their detention, migrants and asylum seekers are threatened with violence and exploitation.

Salah’s appeal comes after more than 370 migrants were sent back to Tripoli while attempting to cross the Mediterranean in six boats carrying men, women and children.
