The Regional Labour Union in Tataouine (extreme south of Tunisia) has sent a letter to the Tunisian Oil Company (ETAP) where it announced its intention to organize protests in all oil companies in the region after the Austrian company OMV dismissed 25 agents including members of the company’s Basic Union.
The Union considered that these dismissals violate International Convention No 135 on the Protection of Workers' Representatives in the Company and the Facilities To Be Granted and explained that this decision was taken unilaterally without any legal basis or consultation of the labour inspectorate.
