International :Closing of the Union for the Mediterranean Social Dialogue Forum

The work of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Social Dialogue Forum ended yesterday Wednesday after two consecutive days of activities during which the participants studied questions on the importance of social dialogue as a necessary tool to resolve professional conflicts at national and sectoral level.

The social actors on both sides of the Mediterranean were based on the programme "Promotion of social dialogue in the countries on the southern shore of the Mediterranean" as a model of success that led the European Commission to finance a second edition of the programme by expanding geographically to include Algeria, Palestine and Lebanon whereas the first edition concerned only Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan.

Representatives of employers' and trade union organisations from both sides of the Mediterranean as well as officials from the central administrations of the European Commission took part in the meeting.
