The Office of the High Commissioner for the Plan released statistics showing that 200,000 women lost their jobs in the second quarter of this year.
According to these statistics, women represent 29.7% of all unemployed in Morocco, or 439,000 women. Official data also show that 43.3% of Moroccan women workers are active in the fisheries agriculture sector, 42.2% in services and 13.8% in industry.
Published on the occasion of National Women’s Day, data from the Office of the High Commissioner for the Plan reveals the low participation rate of women in economic activity with an activity rate of 20.8% in the second quarter of 2020 compared to 21.9% in the same period last year.
