Tunisia: Union of unemployed graduates calls for recruitment in health sector

The Union of Unemployed Graduates called for urgent recruitment in the health sector, in compliance with the Tunisian Labour Code, and recalled that, since the beginning of the pandemic, the government has made several recruitments in health establishments under the formula of precarious contracts and conjunctural which represents, according to the Union, an «exploitation of the unemployed graduates and the misfortune of their unemployment».

In a statement published on Monday 5 October, the Union called for the strengthening of health facilities by medical and paramedical staff (resuscitators, nurses, orderlies, etc.), especially in areas where there is a significant shortage of public health personnel.

According to the organisation, those who were recruited in the context of the strengthening of health establishments were obliged to sign a three-month contract and to undertake not to require the settlement of their situation at the end of that contract, while they are in direct confrontation with the dangers of the coronavirus.
