The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions has published on its official page the outlines of its vision on reforming the labor market, social insurance and the pension fund. The vision’s pillars were based on a number of themes, the most important of which are:
· Expanding the umbrella of social protection to include expatriate worker;
· Paying the full-wage insurance subscription and canceling the maximum insurance limit of 4000 dinars;
· Reducing maximum pension to 2000 dinars
· Continuing to pay the annual wage increase for those whose pensions are less than 1000 dinars;
· Raising pensions’ minimum to 500 dinars for those who had completed 35 years of service;
· Putting an end to double pensions in a way that fulfills the goals of social justice;
· Establishing a special state fund for ministers, MPs, and Shura council members, in a way that excludes them from the Social Insurance Fund;
· Reforming the Public Authority for Social Insurance.
It is noteworthy that the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions had earlier held a press conference during which it disclosed its vision on reforming the labor market and social funds.
