The president of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, Mazen Maaitah, spearheaded the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Arab Potash Company and the General Union of Mining Workers. This protocol aims to maintain cooperation, coordination and resolution of disputes in accordance with the Labour Code and the unified system of trade unions between the two parties.
The Memorandum of Understanding states that “any conflict between the two parties is considered natural and due to differences of opinion which must not jeopardize the good relationship between the two parties concerned”. He added that the resolution of these conflicts must be done in accordance with the Labour Code and the unified union system. The text also stressed that both sides will opt for dialogue and collaboration in order to preserve mutual respect between them and welcomed the role of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions which has consistently supported cooperation and communication to maintain dialogue and balance between the interests of both parties, This strengthens the stability of industrial relations.
For its part, the Union praised the company’s administration and its role in protecting all workers during the pandemic and in supporting the national economy through, This includes donating a day of work to support national pandemic efforts.
