United Arab Emirates: More and more homeless in the ranks of foreign workers

Hundreds of foreign workers are forced to sleep in public gardens after they have lost their homes due to the Covid-19 crisis.

A report by the British newspaper “The Telegraph” revealed that a large proportion of foreign workers are unemployed, undocumented and at the mercy of benefactors.

According to the Oxford Economics Foundation, the current economic situation in the United Arab Emirates threatens about 900,000 jobs, the disappearance of which would affect a large part of the local labour market in vital sectors such as guarding, gardening and cleaning.
