Bahrain: Parliament proposes to allow mothers to work remotely

The Parliament of Bahrain has approved a proposal that allows mothers working in the public and private sector to work remotely to allow them to follow their children at home primary.

The Minister of Parliament and Shura Affairs explained that this new proposal would be considered by the government, which, according to the official, for its application as it presents a solution which takes into account the interests of all parties concerned. To illustrate his remarks, the minister cited the example of social centres that, without their workers, provide increasingly deteriorated services to poor families.

Several feminist organizations in the Arab region are awaiting approval of the parliamentary proposal in Bahrain in the hope that it will apply to other countries where women are having difficulty continuing to work while their children are studying remotely because of it measures taken to contain the spread of the pandemic.
