The General Syndicate of Libyan Doctors has expressed its concern about the conditions in which medical personnel work in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The union explained, in a statement, that they received a written complaint from a doctor who was infected with the Coronavirus, and when they went to inspect the hospital in which the doctor has been working, it was difficult to find someone to take a sample for COVID-19 testing from her, despite having all the symptoms.
The union indicated that the same doctor reported that she may have been infected either from patients or from her colleagues, doctors who work in isolation centers and have shifts in the hospital.
The General Syndicate of Libyan Doctors published a list of the causes that led to a crisis within the medical staff, the most important of which are:
1- The absence of a place designated to conduct COVID-19 samples from medical personnel that may be exposed to infection;
2- The necessity of creating a special place to isolate infected medical personnel, secure treatment for them, and compensate them for proven infection.
