At a workers' rally held last Monday in the Mascara wilaya in south-eastern Algeria, the Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) stated that his organization will defend the right to retirement after 32 years of effective service without taking into account the required age currently set at 60 years, until the issue of social justice is confirmed by the new Constitution.
In this context, the union leader called for more struggle and resistance in order to recover the social gains that were diverted by the former regime and affirmed that the UGTA will do everything necessary to rectify the social process.
