The Moroccan Labour Union (UMT) held its National Council last Saturday under the slogan “Against all legislation that infringes workers' rights and gains”. The meeting was organized online in accordance with the health measures in force.
After presenting the general situation of the world of work, the Secretary-General of the UMT, Miloudi Moukharik, returned to the socio-economic impact of Covid-19 and on the government seeking to pass some new laws without honouring its previous commitments.
The discussions resulted in a series of recommendations and the participants welcomed the great mobilization of workers as part of the month of anger decreed by UMT. The National Council of the Trade Union Centre has also announced its unconditional support with the workers who are facing individual and collective redundancies and total and partial closures of companies. As regards the draft finance law 2021, the Council rejected the wage deductions provided for in the text currently before Parliament.
The UMT also reiterated its rejection of any privatization of the polyclinics of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and welcomed the position of the workers who opposed the decision of the Ministers of Labour and Finance.
