Independent Iraqi trade unions organized, last Friday, a press conference where they outlined the exclusion measures taken against them by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, which refuses to apply national laws and international labour standards on partnership and social dialogue. Laws and standards that confirm the right to trade union pluralism and the democratic and independent aspect of trade unions.
This press conference was organised following the publication of a decree of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs which attests to the legitimacy of the Government Union as the sole representative of Iraqi workers.
