Tunisia – Covid-19: Kelibia teachers host a sit-in

The Regional Secretary-General of the Primary Education Union in Nabeul (in the north of the country) said that teachers at the Kelibia Beach Road Primary School organized an open sit-in after the discovery of 7 positive cases of Covid_19 in the educational staff, including the director of the institution.

The teachers decided to protest, denouncing the authorities who refused to carry out tests for 38 teachers and their wives, who were in contact with the seven coronavirus-positive cases.

The union official said the teachers would go on a general strike if the authorities still refuse to carry out the tests. He added that it is almost impossible to apply health protocols in such cases since several wives teach in other educational institutions.

As we were writing these lines, we learned that an agreement has been reached between the two parties to begin carrying out tests for all those who have been in contact with the contaminated.
