The Director General of the Department of Vocational Training at the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said that the number of foreign workers for the past and current years exceeded 21.000 working in 25 registered and accredited companies.
He Director General added that “foreign workers are two types of legal and illegal workers, the first being those who do not violate the labor law and the residency law, their numbers are known and they are registered with the ministry. As for illegal workers, they come to Iraq in an official way with different pretexts, to later enter the labor market.”
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs had stated during the month of May 2019 through the ministry’s official website, that he sought to organize the labor market and count the number of foreign workers.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs also stressed that this file is run by corruption mafias that exploit foreign workers that come to Iraq.
