The Lebanese Nurses Syndicate warned of the consequences of provided safety measures for nurses in these difficult health conditions.
The Syndicate issued a statement in conjunction with the International Patient Safety Day, which was declared by the International Nursing Council this year under the title “Safety of Health Staff to Ensure Patients’ Safety” underlining that “Patient safety implies preserving the safety of the health personnel who take care of them”.
For that reason the union stressed the importance of securing supplies and means of personal protection in all health institutions, with the necessary quantities and types, in order to avoid catching infection and spreading it among patients and in the community.
The statement also stressed that “patient safety assumes that every nurse is entrusted with the care of a specific number among them that takes into account internationally approved standards and does not expose them to danger, and in search of better, safe and favorable work environment.
The statement concluded by noting that, “the exceptional health conditions make it imperative for all officials to assume their responsibilities to maintain the safety and continuity of nursing in order to preserve the safety of patients”.
