Iraqi Minister of Labor, Adel Al-Rikabi revealed the results of the Ministry’s audit work on the suspicion that more than 12.000 employees have legally received social assistance.
The minister said that the results of the audit proved that those who receive double salaries and were suspended are 6814 on social protection, and 1578 in the Authority for People with Disabilities and Special Needs, confirming the decision to permanently suspend these salaries and pursue the offenders to recover the money.
The Minister continued to explain, that more than 3000 citizens, during the past ten days, visited the social protection departments in Baghdad and the governorates as well as requested the return of the sums that were exceeded by them.
The Ministry gave the violators 30 days, starting August 17, to review the social protection services to return the sums they received, stressing that the ministry will prosecute all transgressors after the deadline expires.
