The General Prosecutor of Tangiers informed the striking workers of the Amanour company from January 21, 2020, of the decision to break the sit-in, even by public force in case of non-compliance.
Commenting on this decision, the head of the union office of the company of the Moroccan Labor Union said that it is the third time that the judicial commissioner visits the affected workers in the sit-in, numbering 500 workers, and informs them of the decision to release.
He added that the basic demand of hundreds of protesters is the return of union representatives and workers’ representatives, whose dismissal was issued by the company’s management without legal reason, starting from January 21, 2020, for the open strike, accompanied by overnight stays, in all branches of the Amanour company affiliated to Violia in Tangiers, Tetouan and Rabat.
He stressed that the decision to disperse the sit-in is rejected and that any attempt to disperse it by public force will only pass on their bodies, after more than seven months of suffering and displacement have passed since the sit-in.
The General Prosecutor pointed out that the local authorities are closely aware of the developments of the file, and they know very well that the decision to expel workers is an arbitrary decision, but they have changed their position and chose to hold the company’s management responsible and sacrifice the workers.
