The Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT by its French acronym) issued a statement objecting to the Moroccan government’s decision to submit the strike bill for discussion to the Social Sectors Committee of the Moroccan Parliament.
CDT considered that this unilateral decision is not of national priorities compared to combating the Coronavirus and putting an end to the wide layoffs that the labor market is witnessing in the country.
work for discussing this law, which was confirmed by various international organizations, including the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
CDT was not satisfied with publishing the statement and corresponded with the Moroccan Prime Minister, Saad Eddine El Othmani, reminding him of the national priorities from its point of view.
CDT highlighted that it is important to address the COVID-19 pandemic, find a solution to the large number of workers’ layoffs as well as the need to withdraw the strike law from the House of Representatives and introduce it to tripartite social dialogue instead.
