Yemen: Crisis of Stalled Salaries, President of the General Federation of Trade Unions corresponds to the Prime Minister

Ali Belkhadr, President of the General Federation of Yemeni Workers Trade Union, addressed in a letter Yemeni Prime Minister, Maeen Abdul Malik Saeed, asking him to lift the grievance of depriving thousands of Yemeni workers of their wages for a period exceeding four years in some sectors and establishments.

The letter did not exclude a description of the living situation in Yemen and the daily suffering of Yemeni workers in order to secure their needs as they face the insane rise in prices.

The letter included a number of demands, in which it was stated that the General Federation of Yemen Trade Unions calls on:

– The Prime Minister to intervene in order to pay the wages of workers who have been suspended since 2016.

– The Reconsideration of the salary scale and wages after the latter lost any ability to cope with the high cost of living.

– The need to address the conditions of retirees in the private and public sectors in proportion to the high cost of living.

– Finding equitable solutions for those who lost their jobs after foreign companies left the country.

The letter was concluded by calling for the activation of social security networks to enhance the capabilities of poor and needy families.
