Morocco: Wage Delays Prompt Cleaning Workers to Go on Strike for Two Days

The Moroccan Labor Union and the Democratic Confederation of Labor accused the Casablanca city council of being slow in paying the wages of the cleaning workers. The two unions announced the paralyzation of waste collection in Casablanca on September 7 and 8, in protest against the non-receipt of their salary for the month of August.

A labor source said that the reason for the delay is the failure of the city council and Kazar Bee'ah to pay the dues of the two companies that directly supervise the cleaning collection in Casablanca.

The situation has left a case of widespread resentment due to the coincidence of non-payment of wages of cleaning workers with the return to school and the number of obligations and financial expenses that such occasions entail.
