International Labor Meeting in Preparation for the G20 Summit

The Workers’ Communication Group of the G20 will hold its annual summit next Monday in Riyadh, as part of the work of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the G20 summit.

The summit will feature representatives of workers and international organizations by default, while attendance at the summit venue at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riyadh will be limited to invited guests.

The activities of the summit will be attended at the international level by the Director-General of the International Labor Organization, Guy Ryder, the Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, Sharan Buru, the heads and representatives of international trade unions in the G20 and a number of Arab trade union organizations.

The G20 Workers’ Communication Group focused on achieving many basic rights for workers, such as guaranteeing the right to social protection and guaranteeing a minimum living wage, promoting social dialogue, and promoting gender equality.

The meeting will also discuss the appropriateness of economic policies while protecting the planet, which seeks to address the main causes of systemic issues, through the means of structural reforms, such as improving tax systems, ensuring effective taxes on digital activities, promoting fair transition, reforming World Trade Organization policies.

The meeting will discuss as well the tools to ensure policies’ coherence between the ILO and International Financial Institutions and other institutions.
