The United Nations (UN) said that one hundred and twenty million jobs in the world are at risk of loss due to the pandemic, while the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development confirmed that the pandemic is the cause of the worst global recession since nearly a century.
UN also emphasized that the tourism, industry and other small and medium enterprises are the most exposed to the risk of losing jobs, as it affirmed that in the first five months of the year 2000, international tourism flows fell by more than half, and the revenues of international tourism services decreased by nearly three hundred and twenty billion dollars.
Economists believe that the effects of the virus and its repercussions on the economy are more severe than its impact on people, indicating that it is difficult to deal with the financial and economic crises that countries witness in just a few years.
