Jordan: Expanding the “Insurance” Umbrella to Include New sectors

In a press release, the Jordanian Social Security Corporation announced the decision to expand the insurance umbrella in the sectors benefiting from the insurance program to include activities for organizing parties, festivals, wedding halls, exhibitions, and renting supplies for weddings and events, cinemas, theaters, and labor recruitment offices.

The Social Security Corporation confirmed that this decision came after a number of meetings and dialogues with the concerned chambers of commerce with the aim of reaching results that lead to the protection of the insured from Jordanian social security participants, the children of the Gaza Strip, and the children of Jordanian women residing in the Kingdom and reducing the burden on the institutions in which they work.

The Social Security Corporation also added that what is disbursed to the insured is considered a financial liability of the establishment and it is obligated to pay it within a maximum period by 6/30/2023. The facility should also be committed to concluding an agreement in installments for these amounts before the date 31/1/2021 in accordance with the regulations in force in the institution, otherwise the institution shall proceed with the procedures of collecting those sums.

According to this program, the disbursed sums, as indicated by the institution, should be paid over a period of two years with an annual interest rate of (3%), borne by the public treasury.
