Lebanese Ministry of Labor issued a decision regarding the settlement of the status of foreign workers who have been violating labor and residency conditions in Lebanon for a period of 3 months:
– The conditions of foreign workers from different groups working on Lebanese soil should be settled as follows:
First: With regard to workers who had a legal entry as well as legal work and residency permits that have expired and are eligible, could apply for work leave, accompanied by the duly requested documents, after obtaining a clearance for fees payment due due for years of delay.
Second: For workers who have been recruited by fake employers, they could transfer to work for other employers.
In the abovementione case, applications are submitted by the new employer with the following documents:
– The documents required to obtain a work permit according to the rules, attached with a certificate of deposit.
– A document issued by the General Security, proving that the settlement has been completed.
Third: With regards to workers who entered Lebanon illegally, requests for regularizing their status by their employers are attached to the documents required to obtain a work permit in addition to the certificate of deposit, after obtaining a settlement set by the General Directorate of General Security according to the rules.
Fees for the employee’s employment years are collected through the employer submitting the application. In case it would not be possible to prove the number of years of work, a fee for two years of delay and a prior approval fee in addition to the work permit fee would be paid as stipulated in Article 23 of the 1999 Budget Law.
Article Two: Applications are submitted in the relevant departments, and those mentioned in paragraphs two and three are referred to the Minister of Labor, in specifically the administrative branch, for a decision to be taken.
Article Three: The aforementioned requests shall be attached with a proof of commencement of settlement procedures, within a period of three months, starting from July, 31, 2020.
