Foreign domestic workers in Lebanon grabbed attention in a humanitarian scene by going out on their vacation day on Sunday to participate in the cleaning campaign at Martyrs Square in a movement of solidarity with the Lebanese people following the explosion of the Beirut port.
Internet sites and TV channels circulated these aforementioned pictures of domestic workers carrying brooms side by side with the Lebanese activists who started from the first hours following the blast to collect the wrecks caused by the destruction.
Social media pages shared statements and comments calling for an end to the sponsorship system and a radical handling of the issues of domestic workers sector.
