The employees of “Khatib and Almi Egypt for Consulting, Engineering Design and Project Management” were surprised by the dismissal of a number of people among them and the reduction of the salaries of others under the pretext of the impact of COVID-19 on the company’s conditions, all without informing workers or warning them.
Nearly 30 employees, including engineers, secretaries, and administrators, in the two branches of the company in Nasr City and the engineers after completing their service, lodged complaints with the Council of Ministers and the Office of Labor and Insurance, to claim their financial dues, according to the law, after the company refused to pay it in full.
The complaints included a number of condemptions of the company that suspended their job duties and arbitrarily stopped them from work, in addition the tampering that took place with the electronic working hours records of some of them without their knowledge or any reference made, with the aim of showing the employee abstaining from work, and forcing them to take open non-payed vacations.
The employees stated in the complaint that the company refused to pay all their material rights and compel them to accept less than what is stipulated in the Egyptian Labor Law, which was set by two months of salary for each year of work they had, in addition to two months of notification and annual leave.
They also discussed the economic damage the company’s decisions caused to them, especially in light of the Coronavirus crisis and the absence of other sources of income.
