Hundreds of Moroccan Migrants Concerned: Air France Plans to Lay Off 7.500 Workers

Air France announced last Friday that it plans to lay off just over 7.500 employees due to the collapse in air travel caused by the Coronavirus.

The layoff includes 6.560 core airline jobs by the end of 2022, which is more than 3.500 who would have left normally because of their retirement age, out of their total workforce of 41.000 employees.

Air France said after talks with trade unions that another 1020 jobs for sister airline “Hope” were to be cut, adding that it would give priority to voluntary arrangements and early retirement.

This decision may cause hundreds of Moroccan workers to lose their jobs, and it is reported that the number of Algerian, Moroccan and Tunisian communities residing in France amounts to millions and represents 10 % of the total population.
