Palestine: The Turkish Progressive Syndicates Union Condemns the Violation of the Rights of Palestinian Workers by two Turkish Companies

The Turkish Progressive Syndicates Union (DISC) has announced that two Turkish-based companies have violated the rights of employees in its subsidiaries in Palestine, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Syndicate.

Adnan Sirdaroglu, Secretary General of DISC, said that LC Waikiki, a clothing company, and “Flo”, a shoe store chain, pay low salaries to their employees and force them to work overtime without pay.

Sirdaroglu pointed out that the poverty line amounts to 3000 NIC in the West Bank, and these companies pay a salary of 2000 NIC to their workers, according to the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions.

“The companies forced the workers to work overtime on the holidays since November 2019 but did not pay the overtime wages and the matter did not stop there. With the outbreak of the coronavirus, the workers were put on leave without pay and then forced to resign by giving up their rights”.

The Secretary-General of the DISC added that the Turkish Syndicate will stand with the Palestinian workers and take the necessary steps at the International Labor Organization (ILO) level.
