According to the Joint Professional Collective of Tunisian Tourism in a press conference it held to present the results of a study that it had carried out in partnership with the Statistics and Quantitative Assessment of Risks Institution about the status of tourism institutions (except hotels) during and after the COVID-19 crisis as well as the sector’s prospects.
The Executive Director of the Institution confirmed that the situation of most tourism facilities, including travel agencies, tourist hospitals, and other institutions, with the exception ofhotels, are in a difficult financial situation due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context, the Executive Director stressed that the study conducted on 184 touristic institutions led to the fact that these places that had experienced financial difficulties due to the Coronavirus crisis had expelled 70% of their workers, indicating that the tourism sector in general in Tunisia, with the exception of hotels, lost 32% of its workers and employees.
The Executive Director also added that there are 31% of tourism establishments that continued to close after the COVID-19 crisis, indicating in the same context that 70% of these institutions do not have the financial liquidity to meet daily expenses.
