The Administrative Board of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT by its French acronym), held last Saturday, announced its adherence to implementing the third installment of public service posts within the deadlines, in accordance with the agreement signed with the Tunisian government during the month of September 2019 and the activation of sectoral agreements.
The statement of the aforementioned administrative body renewed the warning against prejudice to workers’ gains and the willingness of the UGTT to address these unfair policies by all legitimate means.
UGTT called for the speedy end of all forms of fragile work and renewed its rejection of the draft laws, orders and dropped leaflets, and unilateralism, calling for revision and consultancy about this, in order to perceive such law and its negative repercussions on the workers and their rights.
The text of the statement also expressed concern about the deteriorating situation of private sector workers in terms of low wages, sometimes absenteeism, loss of employment for a large number of them, and called on the government to implement its pledges to these workers, develop social measures to support them, and further surround the sectors most affected.
UGTT also declared its rejection of some employers’ facilitation of illegal and unjustified mass expulsions, calling them to negotiate a review of the contracting system and follow-up the agreement to review the degree and sign outstanding amendment annexes, calling for respect for the law in this delicate circumstance in order to maintain social stability and the sustainability of the institution.
