A number of members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly launched an attack against the government of their country concerning its silence regarding the failure of some companies to pay the salaries of their workers, and the continuation of the issue of human trafficking, considering that a crime that is no less important than money laundering crimes.
One of the deputies said that “trafficking in people is a stigma of shame for Kuwait’ and added, “May God’s punishment fall on whoever decided to use himself and tarnish his country’s name for a handful of money’, asking the Minister of Finance to act to implement the economic stimulus plan approved by the Council of Ministers.
On the other hand, a deputy for the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee announced that the latter will discuss in its next meeting the issue of national and foreign workers in the private sector, pointing out that human traffickers will resort to the government after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and demand compensation.
Another deputy revealed that scenes of workers who did not receive their salaries from companies are no less offensive to Kuwait’s reputation than money laundery crimes, calling for liquidating their sponsors’ financial guarantees to pay workers’ dues.
Another MP also called for exposing those involved in this case, who are now denigrating and holding Kuwait accountable, stressing that the government’s silence in this regard holds it suspicious regarding its involvement in the crimes of human trafficking.
