Algeria: Integration of Contracting Workers Continues Despite COVID-19

Algerian Ministry of Labor confirmed that the process of integrating contracting workers and employees is still ongoing despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Labor added, as part of his response to the oral questions posed by MPs of the Algerian People’s Assembly, that an economic approach should be activated in labor instead of a social, adding that the Presidency of the Republic stressed the need to integrate all contracting workers and employees during the celebrations of the International Workers Day on May 1st.

The Minister pointed out that there is an ongoing work at the level of the Prime Ministry to accelerate the pace of this process, revealing the integration of more than 12.000 contract employees.

Algeria has been witnessing long-term reforms and profound changes at the economic and social levels in response to the demands raised on the impact of the popular movement (Otherwise refered to as “Hirak”), which Algeria have been witnessing since last year and the beginning of this year.
