After the call of the General Syndicate of Health of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), public health workers across Tunisia went on a general strike on Thursday to demand the application of the agreements on the Basic Law and to withdraw Article 2 from the civil service for all workers in the sector.
The strike included all workers in the health and hospital institutions and regional and central administrations that are affiliated with the Ministry of Health, except for emergency departments and urgent intervention.
Secretary-General of the Syndicate of Health stated that this general strike comes in protest of the lack of seriousness of the government, expressing his surprise at the failure to send a request to the Syndicate to hold a negotiation session in the presence of officials from the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Finance.
