G-Fok workers in Unity State in South Sudan, went on strike since last Monday to protest the administration’s neglect of their complaints and demands.
One of the workers’ representatives announced that this strike came after more than four months of patience, depriving them of their right to leave and without material compensation, in addition to calling for life insurance for all workers.
Philip Mahmoud, the company’s main representative for workers, announced that the strike would continue initially for three days until the company’s response to the aforementioned demands, which Mahmoud considered a right guaranteed by the law and that the “G-Fok” administration represented an exception in South Sudan, given the commitment of the rest of the companies affiliated with the laws.
It is noteworthy that the Republic of South Sudan has one trade union organization involved in the International Trade Union Confederation which is the General Union of South Sudan Trade Unions.
