A group of Bahraini employees in an engineering and industrial services company filed a collective complaint with the Private Sector Secretariat in the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, after the company informed them of their decision to dismiss them by the end of June. The number of these employees is 16.
The years of service for the dismissed employees ranges between 9 to 22 years of service in the company, including engineers and site supervisors. One of the dismissed employees said that the issue began with a delay in salaries since the beginning of 2018, which were delayed for a period exceeding 15 days.
The employee added that this delay was not limited to Bahraini employees only, and the total arrears ranges from two to four months.
Employees complained that this sudden dismissal comes after their patience for two years on salaries delay, despite the high monthly obligations, and that some of them accumulated interest on loans because of this, and despite financial responsibilities and harsh costs of life. They also noted that this injustice imposed on them cannot be accepted and some migrant workers resigned due to delaying salaries.
It is worth noting that the company is one of the largest industrial and engineering services companies in Bahrain, and it works in the most important factories and companies, including (Bapco), (Al-Hadd Desalination Station), (Alba), (Development) and (Sitra Station) and others.
Employees accuse the company in question, however, of falsifying their financial situation and claiming its deterioration, contrary to reality.
The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions has continued to present the issue of this group to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, highlighting its emergency in order to settle with the management of the company in question and to ensure the rights of workers as recommended by the Joint Committee between the Union and the Ministry of Labor, as well as ensure direct communication between the two parties.
