Palestine: Aid Distribution for Workers Begins

Palestinian Ministry of Labor announced the start of the process of distributing financial aid to workers from the “Waqf Fund” amid fears that the screening process will be difficult due to the large number of demands and the complexities of such process.

News also noted that there are potential names that are not entitled to benefit from the aid, which makes the process more complicated amid voices calling for it to be stopped in order to re-establish the demands by relying on the database of the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions.

It is important to note that the Palestinian Prime Minister confirmed that this is only the first batch, and that there will be other government interventions to help those affected, including the work-for-money program that will be launched next month, and a large number of those affected by the COVID-19 crisis will benefit from it.

Palestinian Prime Ministry had also announced that it would assume the responsibility of providing assistance to Palestinian workers inside the occupied territories in order to demand Israeli employers to bear their responsibilities for the damages that the Palestinian workers were subjected to due to the pandemic.
