Moroccan consulates and diplomatic missions in a number of countries around the world have registered protests made by their stranded citizens since the beginning of the Corona crisis last March.
Weather conditions and difficulty in moving have not deterred Moroccan nationals stranded in France from gathering in front of some consulates of the Morocco in Lille, Dijon, Montpellier, Paris and Toulouse, and in Spain, Istanbul, Germany, Algiers, and the city of Oran, following call for protest published on social media pages.
The protesters attribute their demonstrations to the absence of any response or a Moroccan government statement about the date of their evacuation towards Morocco and the end of their suffering due to the lack of funds and the difficulty of movement due to the measures of public quarantine.
For such reasons, the French police fined a number of protesters for violating the quarantine.
Protesters also called on the Moroccan parliament to exercise its regulatory powers to compel the government to assume its responsibilities and evacuate the stranded Moroccan citizens at the earliest time possible.
