Qatar Airways has announced its intention to lay off a large number of people, due to the difficulties it is facing as a result of the halting demand for air travel.
The chairman of the company’s board of directors sent a letter to its employees informing them of the company’s intention to lay off a large number of its employees without specifying the number, in order to “protect the future of the company,” he said.
“Simply, we cannot keep the current number of employees and we will have to lay off a large number of jobs, including flight attendants”, added the chairman.
The International Air Transport Organization had warned last month that air traffic in the Middle East and North Africa regions would get lower this year.
It is noteworthy that Qatar Airways employs more than 45.000 of employees and workers and has a fleet of 240 aircraft.
