Jordan: “Sadaqa” Association Are Wondering About Children’s Fate While Parents Return to Work

“Sadaqa” Association for a Woman-friendly Work Environment has caused controversy in Jordanian society by asking a serious question about the status of working women if the public quarantine is lifted.

The association has published on its official page a letter to the Jordanian Prime Minister and the Labor Ministry in which it said, “We are staying home with our children, and we are barely managing with distance learning, what would happen if we go back to work and they are left alone at home?”

The association added “we can’t leave our children at our neighbor’s or at our 70 year – old mothers’, we want a solution for working families with children under the ages of 12 years old.”

The association believes that the solution lies in finding a way to reopening children’s nurseries with taking strict preventive measures that protect children from the risk of contracting the virus.

Observers believe that the raised subject will probably be iterated as well by all women in the Arab region, given the similar circumstances.
