Morocco: The Confederation Objects to the Rental of “Samir Reservoirs”

The executive office of the Democratic Confederation of Labor issued a notice expressing the workers’ rejectionl to the rental of the “Samir Company” tanks that had been out of production for years.

According to the statement, it was stated that the Moroccan government has negatively dealt with the Samir company’s case since privatization and resorting to renting its warehouses, and considering this procedure as an execution of the remaining opportunities to resume production in full, protect the interests of creditors, workers’ rights, provide national reserves of petroleum products, and reducing the imbalances exposed in obscene prices.

The statement also renewed the demands of the Democratic Confederation of Labor to take advantage of the available opportunities because of the fall in world prices, and to encourage investment in oil refinement as well as the urgent resumption of production.

The confederation’s office concluded by noting that “the Corona pandemic confirmed the importance of strengthening national energy security, developing and qualifying the national industry, urgent resumption of production at the Muhammadiyah Refinery, rebuilding the national social state, and ensuring local production of all the country’s needs, chief among them medical, food and energy needs”, according to the same press release.
