EU Approves Aid to Tunisia and Jordan

The European Parliament has approved total financial aid for ten partner countries, worth 3 billion euros, to tackle the impact of Coronavirus. Tunisia and Jordan have received 600 and 200 million euros in aid, respectively.

According to news reports, the success of Tunisia and Jordan in adopting a package of economic and social reforms accelerated the approval of this aid which is expected to be disbursed next June.

Other reports explained the rapid approval of this aid by the need to support these countries’ efforts to protect their economies in the face of the Coronavirus crisis.

It is noteworthy that the European Union approved a proposal to provide total financial aid to 10 countries, which are 180 million euros for Albania, 250 million euros for Bosnia and Herzegovina, 150 million euros for Georgia, 200 million euros for Jordan, 100 million euros for Kosovo, 100 million euros for Moldova, and 60 million euros for Montenegro , 160 million euros for northern Macedonia, 600 million euros for Tunisia and 1.2 billion euros for Ukraine.
