Morocco: Moroccan Labor Union Makes Proposals to Overcome the COVID-19 Crisis

The Moroccan Labor Union presented a series of social procedures proposals to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.

During a session of the Moroccan Council of Advisors, the Moroccan Labor Union presented a description of the various deficiencies recorded in dealing with the Coronavirus crisis and presented a series of recommendations which reads as follows:

 

It is mandatory to conduct a dialogue at the level of the professional sectors and at the level of enterprises and economic units to prepare guides for safety procedures and measures to ensure the maintenance of health and safety of workers.

 

It is essential to impose precautionary measures, provide the necessary supplies of masks and thermometers, and to expand laboratory testing. In addition to the rest of the means of protection and respect for social distancing measures in work sites, industrial and service facilities.

 

It is crucial to tighten the monitoring and inspection procedures at work sites by strengthening the labor inspectorate apparatus in order to avoid the high percentage of industrial foci, which now constitute 20% of the total foci as stated in your offer. Such aspect confirms that some establishments do not respect precautionary measures, which for the most part do not respect the rights of workers to have unionists’ activities.
