The Director General of the Coca-Cola Company in Lebanon announced in a statement that the company will be shutting down its doors at the end of May due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the company’s finances.
The statement linked this decision to the deteriorating economic situation that Lebanon has been experiencing for a period, the financial crisis that crippled the commercial movement and the complexities of importing raw materials from abroad.
The Director-General also added that the lack of clarity of a vision at the end of the economic crisis in Lebanon made matters worse and forced us to take this decision.
As for the fate of the workers, the statement said, “We made a compelling decision to lay off all employees and workers and to dissolve and liquidate the company. We hope that the decision will be accepted with a generous order.”
It is noteworthy that Lebanon is living in a comprehensive crisis since the beginning of the popular protests late last year, which ended with the resignation of the government and the appointment of a new government with a primary mission which is to overcome the economic crisis.
