The Sudanese government announced on Wednesday, the increase in the minimum wage in the country by about seven times its current amount, in an attempt to keep pace with price changes and high inflation.
In a press statement issued by the Sudanese Ministry of Finance, the government raised the wage limit from 425 pounds (8.7 dollars) to 3.000 pounds (61.3 dollars).
The previous minimum wage, which was 425 pounds, has not been increased since 2013.
The ministry also announced that this decision will go into effect as of April this year, according to the Anadol Agency.
Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Badawi said that the rate of increase in wages was 569 % on average on the steps of the career ladder.
