Press reports revealed an internal official report prepared by the state’s security and medical agencies, prepared for presentation to the Coronavirus pandemic Crisis Management Committee. The report expected that the number of infections in Egypt will reach its peak during the third week of next May, warning of the repercussions of continuing productive and economic activities in response to the desire of the political leadership represented by the President of the Republic.
The report mentioned a number of negative indicators that started to appear after the Egyptian President’s speech on April 7, in which he said that “the economic stoppage losses are greater than the losses of Corona injuries”,which was followed by the government’s decision to reduce the curfew period by an additional hour, with continued cessation of education and aviation, and the closure of assembly and recreation areas
After days of restarting all the small and medium factories in the suburbs of Greater Cairo in particular, and increasing the rates of employment in construction projects, the number of infected people registered in the age groups to which most workers belong (between 30 and 50 years) increased by 30% over the previously recorded number. In addition, the number of infections increased in the governorates with productive activities and industrial complexes, such as Giza, Damietta, Sharkia, Ismailia and Port Said, according to the same report.
