Press reports revealed that employees and workers of daily contracts and wages in the Department of Health in the province of Dhi Qar receive lower wages amounting to less than $ 100, despite the services they provide to people with serious Coronavirus cases and those with other diseases. All this, despite the issuance of Resolution 315, which provides for their conversion into ministerial contracts and the amendment their salaries.
According to press reports, the employees recently held a sit-in in front of the Dhi Qar Health Department to demand the improvement in their working conditions in health institutions.
Reports highlighted that many wage workers and employees have worked for eight years in health institutions, some of whom have up to 10 years of service and less than four years of service, and have indicated that they work in conditions that cause them to come into contact with the risks of disease, especially coronavirus, where many among them work as employees and service workers in the emergency halls and isolation quarries, they provide services to patients and clean the halls and health quarries.
For his part, Director General of Dhi Qar Health Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Jabri said in a press statement that the salaries of workers and employees of wages are 120.000 dinars and that it would be spent during the next two months ; 175.000 dinars per month and until the budget is approved during the two mentioned months, indicating that their salaries will return to 121.000 dinars if the budget is not approved within the next two months.
Regarding not including the risk allocations, Al-Jabri said that the workers and employees of wages are currently in the stage of temporary contracts, and there is no legal clause allowing them to be included in the aforementioned allocations and other allocations.
Al-Jabri also promised to include the workers and employees of the wages with bonuses if they were received by the Department by the Ministry of Health.
The Syndicate of Doctors in Dhi Qar, Dr. Abdel-Hassan Al-Nayazi stated that the governorate doctors are still working under exceptional conditions to confront the coronavirus which does not have sufficient supplies to protect doctors and nurses from transmission of the disease, while pointing to the exacerbation of the problem of crowding and acute shortage of clinical coverage in hospitals after the allocation of Al-Hussein educational hospital for coronavirus patients.
