The General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions Contributes to the Labor Fund with an Amount of 5 Million NIS

Shaher Saad, Secretary-General of the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, announced that the Federation will provide 5 million NIS to the Labor Fund, in which the government contributes, in addition to providing an amount of 1.5 million NIS as food parcels to be distributed in the governorates.

This took place during a meeting where Saad met with the Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Shtayyeh on Wednesday, in his office in Ramallah, and where they discussed a number of issues concerning workers, whether working in the Palestinian territories, or within Israel, in light of the Coronavirus crisis.

Sawa News Agency reported that the Prime Minister, through the Secretary-General of the Federation, reviewed the efforts made by them on the side of the government and in partnership with emergency committees in the border areas and crossings with “Israel” to examine workers, in light of this national battle in which all segments of the Palestinian society must participate to counter the spread of the virus.

In turn, the Prime Minister thanked the Secretary General of the Federation and the administrative body for their continuous efforts to defend workers’ rights and entitlements, and their relentless endeavor to provide support to the unemployed during this state of emergency.
